Bow Practice - Settling back in
Last recorded bow practice was end of June and we are in the middle of August, just three weeks away from the hunt! I haven’t gotten nearly as much practice in as I would have liked, but I feel I am catching up.
For basically the month of July I didn’t shoot my bow hardly at all. As I previously mentioned I started developing the yips and had very little confidence at full draw. I felt like I was fighting my shoulders, eyes, hands, everything.
Luckily I’m in Idaho where it is much more convenient to shoot and I have been pounding targets. I’m back to 50 yards and actually shooting fairly good groups. I’m hoping to to mark up to 80 yards over this next week. The biggest thing for me is reps to gain confidence that I can shoot a tight group between 20-45 yards.
So far the groups have been okay. My groups could kill and elk but I don’t think they could kill a deer, especially a small one. I’m hoping to really tighten them up.
Another thing I’m worried about is how long I can hold the bow at full draw. I haven’t had much practice but am hoping to get on that this week as well.
We are behind but we are catching up! We start hunting August 31st - need to get after it.
