Bow Practice - Reps

Written by E. Chase Bleyl on 29 June 2020.

It’s been a while. I’ve shot probably three times total (including today) between my last archery post and now.

None of them have gone well.

I think I have developed the archery equivalent of the “yips”. I’m not comfortable at full draw, constantly worried about:

I feel anxious. I feel uncomfortable. I’m not sure where this came from but I’m definitely struggling.

Now the question is how do I get rid of this? I don’t want to practice since most practices have been so poor. Regardless, I have a feeling that the only way I’m going to get over this is with reps.

First thing is I’m heading back to 20 yards. I was hoping to sight in my bow but the most important thing for me right now is feeling like I could nail a dime from 20. Once I get that confidence back I can worry about everything else.

It is unfortunate I have taken this step back. Now we need to start moving forward again.
