Bow Practice - Reps

Written by E. Chase Bleyl on 07 June 2020.

Got some repetitions in today. Not great accuracy but am getting more comfortable and learning some new things about how I’m shooting.

Sets

First volley I felt I was shooting a little high (aiming for middle O), so I dropped it down after a few arrows. It was noticably more accurate after this adjustment.

First volley, 7 arrows, 30 yards

Second volley was pretty tight except for a few bad misses. I’ll chalk those up to building muscle.

Second volley, 7 arrows, 30 yards

Third volley I finally started figuring out a quirk with my setup. You’ll notice that my consistency is coming tighter, and the arrows are grouping on the C instead of the O.

Third volley, 7 arrows, 30 yards

This had me really scratching my head. Next round of arrows I shot three arrows aiming at the O and then an aditional four arrows ariming at the B.

Fourth volley, 7 arrows, 30 yards

Need to do some research on why my arrows are falling right.

Missing right

I wasn’t noticing this drift from 20 yards, but there is a chance I need to horizontally adjust my sight. At first I was worried about my draw length, but looking at the consistency of my groups I think it might be a sight problem instead of a bow problem. If I had an issue with the draw length then the shots would be inconsistent left and right of the target. Since we are just shooting right, I need to look at the sight.

To be honest, I’m not even sure how to adjust the sight left and right. I’ll have to look that up and figure out how to adjust that.

Next practice

Next practice I need to look at my horizontal and vertical alignments.

The exercise:

Still dialing in my bow! Also getting some muscle and comfortability back. Work in progress but I need more reps! Glad to have gotten 28 in today.
