9 Hole prep
I’ll be playing 9 holes at Sycamore Creek golf course tomorrow with my dad. Don’t have enough time to play 18, and it will likely be storming before and after we play so we are going to try to sneak on.
I haven’t hit or picked up a golf club since I went to the range two weeks ago. Since then I have painted three rooms in my house, taken three loads of brush to the dump, and been to the chiropractor for pain caused by those two activities.
How well do I think I will play? Not very.
If I have time to sneak to the driving range before we play I think I might be okay. One of my issues with golf the last few years has been finding my shot during the round. Typically I’ve been coming rushed from work or family and haven’t had time to warm up. It takes me a few holes to find my stroke, and once I do I can put together some pretty good runs. I just need to stop taking the first 3-9 holes to figure out my game that day.
Listened to a great little interview the other day where Joel Dahmen said,
If you have no penalty strokes, no three putts, and no two chips, your score is going to drop dramatically.
That will be my game plan for tomorrow. Keep it simple. Play conservatively. Play 9 solid holes of golf.
Let’s see what I can do!
